Time is Money!!

Time Banking for Exclusive Access Members

CueGz-timeismoneyladywithsignJPGDon't you wish that you had the time and the money to really be successful in your business, or land that perfect job, or finally write that book that you have been wanting to write?  Whatever your dream is, no one has all of the skills and expertise to do it all alone.  And, lets face it.  Getting expert help can be expensive. No worries, time is literally money at the Redwood Sisterhood.

In the spirit of our mission to create a strong support network for women nationally, we proudly introduce our time banking service for our Exclusive Access Members.

What is Time Banking?

Time Banking has been around for about 20 years as a concept created by Edgar Cahn.  He created Time Banks USA in 1998 as a neighborhood based community bartering program.  The Redwood Sisterhood has partnered with Time Banks USA to create the first national time bank for women.  Time banking is a person/hour community bartering service exchange program that assumes the following:

We all have the same 24 hours in a day,
• We all have different gifts, talents and skills that we can use to  help others,
• We all need some services for which we are not experts and for which we cannot afford,
• Time can be a currency in and of itself without money values attached to it.

How does Time Banking Work?

Redwood Sisterhood Exclusive Access members would receive Time Dollars for either participating in Redwood Sisterhood activities, or for sharing their expertise with others within the community.  One hour of time equals one time dollar.  These time dollars can be banked and spent on any service within the community.    This website will link you the the Redwood Sisterhood Time Bank website that will allow you to enter service offerings, find service opportunities, make service connections, and automatically track your time bank account.

How is Time Banking different than Regular Bartering?

Time Banking is completely tax free because no money values are attached to time, and exchanges occur within the community and not between two parties.    You cannot exchange time for something other than time.   So, services need to be defined in time hours and not end product deliverables.  A strategic plan document is not the deliverable, but the consultation time to help you to get a strategic plan could be purchased with time dollars.

What types of Services can be Offered and Accessed?

Community Weaver, the Time Bank software assumes a neighborhood scope and we are a national organization.  So, there will be service categories in there that are more neighborhood based such as transportation, home help, child care, etc.   We cannot take away service categories, we can only add to them.  And as we grow, some of these neighborhood based services may make sense for our members anyway.    We can add service categories and services organically, as membership skills and needs grow and change.

Because we are a national women’s support organization, our services will likely fall into these categories:  (Examples are not exhaustive)

o Financial
o Legal
